One Last Rooted In Nature Card - Sneak Peek from the 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Catalog!

I was designing the make and takes for our upcoming group meeting. I always like to use the new products when possible, so of course I couldn't resist using the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set for one of the cards, along with my favorite new paper - Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper. This paper has beautiful designs with leaves, ferns, etc... on one side, and great textures on the other. The color combinations are really pretty!

I kept this card very simple since there will be limited time for our group members to stamp and assemble these. I kind of like the simplicity of the card.

 

The colors in the designer paper are Mint Macaron (which is returning - yay!), Cajun Craze, and Petal Pink. It is a very pretty combination. For the card base, I used Cajun Craze card stock. I stamped off to stamp the leaves behind the saying. The saying was stamped in Cajun Craze ink. The embellishments are from our new Faceted Dots embellishments!  They come on one sheet with 4 colors and 3 sizes of each.

Another Rooted in Nature Sneak Peek from the 2018-2019 Stampin' Up! Catalog!

I have had so much fun playing with the Rooted in Nature Bundle!  This set has not only trees, but also leaves and sayings!  It is so versatile!

The tree on the card for today reminds me of the trees along the coast in Northern California. I had to use it on a card! I decided to keep it simple and not take away from the beauty of the tree.

The colors I used are Tranquil Tide and Soft Suede. I used the Woodland Texture Folder just to give a little interest to the background of the card. I also used the gold faceted gems as a little accent at the bottom.

 

 

This card makes me want to head to Monterey. Oh yeah, I am writing this in the car on the way there! I get to spend 2 days with my daughter and her friend who is here visiting from the Midwest. This is our favorite place to take people who come to visit. The beauty and wildlife here just cannot be beat!

This was a photo taken the last time we visited Monterey. This was taken just south of Monterey at Garrapata State Park along Highway 1. This valley filled with Cala Lillies is a beautiful site!

 

 

Stampin' Up! 2018-2019 Catalog Sneak Peek - Rooted in Nature Bundle

I have been busy in my stamping garage creating with my new stamp sets from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Catalog that will be released on June 1. 

I have been happily making masculine cards this week. I promised to post a card made with the new tree set (Rooted in Nature) from the upcoming catalog. This set is part of the Rooted in Nature bundle. It comes with 16 stamps, and coordinating framelits. I am so glad not to have to fussy cut these images! 

So, even though it is very late in the day (PT), I am getting the card posted as promised.

I made three different cards, but I think this is my favorite of the three. I used The Rooted in Nature Bundle, and the Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper. The background of the card is a piece of the Designer Series Paper. The Base of the Card is Blackberry Bliss Card Stock (which was a retired In Color that is returning to become part of our Regals Color Palette). This is such a rich, beautiful color! The leaves were made by stamping the leaf stamp in Grapefruit Grove ink onto Petal Pink Card Stock (these are both brand new colors!), and Blackberry Bliss ink onto Rich Razzleberry Card Stock. I then cut the images out using the Nature's Roots Framelits. There are a couple of pieces in this framelit set that emboss as well, I used one on the Petal pink leaf to create the grooves, and also on the copper foil leaf. (I know that the metallic leaf looks gold in the photo, but it is actually copper, so it coordinates perfectly with the  Leaves Trinkets Embellishments. As a final touch, I used the Blackberry Bliss twine to make a bow. The Blackberry Bliss twine is part of  the Nature's Twine set that includes 4 different colors of twine.

More Masculine Cards!

 

I am on a roll!  

I truly enjoy making masculine cards. I think I own every tree set that Stampin' Up! has ever made. I am THRILLED that Lovely as a Tree survives each new catalog retirement. I LOVE that set!  For those of you that love it too, you will be very excited about the new tree set coming out on June 1!

I will share a card made with that set tomorrow.

For this card, I used the Truly Tailored Bundle. This set is in the Occasions Catalog and will not be carrying over. I also used the True Gentleman Designer Paper  which will also be retiring. The card base is made with Night of Navy Card Stock, and the Layer under the DSP is Crumb Cake Card Stock.

Masculine cards!

I have heard so many people say that they have trouble making masculine cards. It always makes me laugh, because those are some of my favorite ones to make. I can  make a masculine card so much more quickly than a floral card!

This card uses the Waterfront Stamp set. Thankfully, this is a set that will be carrying over into the new Annual Catalog. The True Gentleman Designer Series  Paper used in the background will not be carrying over however, so if you like this be sure to order yours now! I used the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp set (retiring) for the saying, and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch. The card base was made with Night of Navy Card Stock. The ink colors used were Soft Suede, Tranquil Tide and Night of Navy. These were all stamped onto Whisper White Card Stock.

I have a lot of favorites that are retiring! This card uses one of the bundles that is retiring. This Birthday Delivery Bundle includes the designer paper, stamp set and framelits, and all three are retiring! 

I like this bundle because the framelits not only cut out the stamped images, but also cut out images in the designer paper.

 

This was a card that I did in one of my special folds classes. It opens in different directions, so I have included three different pictures of the card.

A Little Valentine Fun!

We had a great time last week at my Valentine Card Class!  What a great group of ladies who come and stamp with me each month!  I am so thankful for the friendships they bring into my life. 

I decided to share another of the cards that we did at the class. This card was made with all of my stamping friends, customers, and stamping sisters around the world  in mind.

 

I used the Stamparatus at the class. It was so nice to have all of the pieces already aligned on the stamping plate so that all my class members had to do was stamp the heart using one plate, then the chocolates already aligned on another plate,and then the pink accents already aligned on the other side of the first plate. The card was very quick and simple with this awesome tool!

Stampin' Up! Party Panda Valentine Card

I was creating some Valentines for a class that I offered this week, and was wanting to come up with cards that would be useful for any occasion - not just Valentine's Day. 

This card works well as a Valentine, but could also be used for various occasions throughout the year - even as a "thinking of you" card.

This was a pretty easy card to make. I simply stamped the panda from the Party Panda Set (who is holding a balloon) in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the "Love You" heart from the Lots of Love Stamp Set onto Whisper White Card Stock using Real Red Ink, and cut it out using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits. I popped it up using Stampin' Dimensionals and covered the balloon from the original panda image. I stamped the heart stamp from the Heart Happiness Stamp Set onto the Real Red Card Stock using Versamark Ink to create a subtle background.To finish off the card, I attached a bow made from Silver Baker's Twine to the base of the "heart balloon" using glue dots.

I was happy with the way this cute little guy came out!

Fun at the Waterfront!

I have taken a bit of time to try out my new supplies from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I am having a hard time deciding which set is my favorite, but I know one of them that really caught my eye is the new Waterfront Stamp Set. It is beautiful, and fun to play with!  It has 16 different stamps that allow you to create lots of different landscapes - from tropical beaches to mountain get-a-ways, it provides many looks!

This is a card that I did as a recent swap with my former Advisory Board sisters. This group includes some amazing ladies, and they do beautiful work!

Here is the card that I created for this swap.

 

To create this card, I used the Pinewood Planks Texture Folder. I inked the raised side of the folder with Early Espresso Ink, inserted a piece of 4 x 5.25 inch Crumb Cake card stock, and ran this through the Big Shot. I LOVE the look this created!  I adhered this textured piece to my Early Espresso card base. I then took a 3 x 4 inch piece of Whisper White card stock and stamped a scene using the Waterfront Stamp set.

I started with the "grass" by stamping the triangular stamp in Pear Pizzazz ink. I stamped over this with the straight stamp in Pear Pizzazz ink to give some variation in shades. Next, I stamped the trees using Always Artichoke ink. To create the sunset, I stamped the Sun in Crushed Curry. I then stamped over this image with the triangular shaped stamp using the rock and roll technique with So Saffron and Peek-a-boo Peach inks. I turned the triangular shaped stamp so that the tip was pointed up for the top half of the image over the sun, and down for the bottom half of the image over the sun. This created a "halo" affect around the sun. This left some empty space between my "sunset" and the "ground", so I filled this in by inking the triangular stamp with So Saffron ink, placing a mask over the "ground", and stamping the triangular stamp point down so that it filled in this open space without overlapping the ground. The cabin was stamped with Early Espresso ink, cut out and popped up with a Stampin' Dimensional. The saying was stamped in Early Espresso ink.

After I finished stamping, I cut the oval shape around the stamped image using the Layering Ovals Framelits. I sponged the edge of the oval with Early Espresso ink to carry through with the watercolor effect. I created a "shadow" by placing an Early Espresso oval under the stamped oval, and popping the stamped image up with dimensionals.  To finish off the look, I used two of the Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes that I had colored with the Bronze Stampin' Blends Marker.
