I have been playing with the Hexagon Folder quite a bit lately. I had previously posted a picture of one of these cards, and it seems to be getting a lot of attention on Pinterest, so I decided to make a video tutorial to show you how I used this folder on a few of my cards.
Close-up pictures of the cards are posted after the video.
For this "Hey, Chick" card, I used the hexagon impressions folder and inked the side that had the raised outline for the hexagons to form chicken wire. The base of the card is done with soft suede card stock. I stamped the chicken in soft suede ink and just filled in with my aqua painter to blend the ink a bit. I colored the feet and crown with my markers. I then cut the image out using the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The outer Real Red mat was made using the Layering Circles Framelits. For just a bit of embellishment, I used the White Perfect Accents. I thought they looked a bit like eggshells.
Note: The chicken stamp came from the Hey, Chick stamp set that is available as one of the free Sale-a-bration items with a $50 purchase. (This sales promotion runs through March 31, 2017)
This Bee and Honeycomb card was also made by inking the Hexagon Texture Folder. This time, I inked the other side of the folder (see video) using Delightful Dijon ink. Notice the added dimension this gave to my honeycomb!
The base of the card was made using Basic Gray card stock. The second layer was done in Very Vanilla cardstock. The words were stamped in Basic Gray ink. Both the words and the bee came from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. The honeycomb layer was done in Delightful Dijon cardstock. The bee was stamped onto vellum using basic black ink, then cut out. I colored the body of the bee using the Delightful Dijon marker on the back side of the vellum, and then brushed gold Wink of Stella over the top. For added dimension, I added the Urban Underground Washi Tape. I also added a bit of Gold Metallic Thread behind my bee. I used a piece of the metallic ribbon (from the Sale-a-Bration offerings) along the edge of my honeycomb. This ribbon is just one of the items you can choose for free with a $50 order during our Sale-a-Bration season (from now through the end of March 2017). I made a small banner out of the Gold Foil Paper, and added one of the hexagon embellishments from the Urban Underground Embellishment packages.
