Watercolor Spritz Video Tutorial

I had posted this card on my blog a couple of weeks ago. I had several questions about how I created the background, so I decided to do a video tutorial.

The background for this card was stamped with the splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Set. I used Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Old Olive for the background. The Trees came from the In the Meadow Stamp Set.

 

 

 I again used the splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp set to create this background. The background colors were Soft Sky, Marina Mist, and Crumb Cake. The sandpipers and the saying came from the Wetlands Stamp Set

The Background for this card was created with the splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp set. The ink colors used to create the background were Soft Sky, Marina Mist and Island Indigo. The base of the card was Island Indigo. I used Silver Foil Paper as an accent layer. The images came from the Beautiful You Stamp set. I added silver enamel shapes for added embellishment.

 

 

The background for this card was stamped using the dotted image from the Dragonfly Dreams Stamp set. The background was stamped using Calypso Coral, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz inks. The base of the card was made using Pear Pizzazz card stock. The dragonfly was cut from Gold Foil Paper, using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits dies.  As with all of the cards shown here, the background was stamped onto Shimmery White Card Stock, and then spritzed with water using the Stampin' Spritzers.

A Wonderful Visit With Friends in Monterey!

I have an amazing group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators in my ImPeckable Stamper's Group!!  These ladies are some of my best friends, and often feel like family!  I miss living close to many of them, but thankfully have been able to go back and visit 2 - 3 times per year!  

This year, two of those ladies had amazing years, and ended up in the top 100 out of 50,000 demonstrators worldwide!!  I decided that deserved some special recognition, so I flew Meg Loven and Julie Davison out to California for a long weekend. I took them to Monterey (one of my favorite locations in Northern California)!

I was a bit worried, as we were supposed to have a severe storm the entire weekend. We were very fortunate that in Monterey, we didn't get as much rain as the surrounding areas. We also timed the trip just right so that we hiked along the coast on the two days that it was not raining as much, and spent the rainiest day in the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We didn't return home until Monday, so we also didn't run into the issues with Highway 101 being shut down on Sunday. I think we were being watched over the whole weekend!

I figured no Stampin' Up! Celebration was complete without them, so of course I had to include pillow gifts!

I have been playing with some of the items from the Occasions Catalog. On of my favorite new items is the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle.  

I made this card for a swap that I joined with other past Stampin' Up! Advisory Board Members.

 

To create this card, I stamped the background using the "splatter" stamp from Gorgeous Grunge onto watercolor paper in three colors - Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant and Rich Razzleberry. I then spritzed with the images with water using our Stampin' Spritzer. I let this background dry, and then stamped the saying from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set using Rich Razzleberry ink. I cut the dragonflies using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies. One was cut with whisper white card stock, and the other with the Gold Foil Paper. I layered the dragonflies and then adhered them to the card using the fine tip glue. The card base was made using the Elegant Eggplant Card Stock.

Happy New Year and Happy Sale-a-Bration!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season!  Ours was VERY BUSY, and very wonderful!  All 6 of our kids were here for Christmas!  We had a house full! It was noisy, and chaotic, and wonderful! We were busy every day! 

My husband's favorite movie is Despicable Me. He surprised us all by having a "minion party". He ordered a cake and special pajamas for all of us, and then we watched the movie. It was hilarious (especially the cake he ordered! The grocery store that made the cake must have misunderstood that he wanted a "MINION CAKE". This is what we ended up with - ha!)

We also took a ride on the Christmas Train of Lights through Niles Canyon. The entire train is covered in Christmas decorations. They said it takes an average of 2500 volunteer hours to decorate the train! It is covered in lights on the outside and lights and decorations on the inside. They play Christmas music and have hot chocolate and cookies. It is a fun family activity, and the tickets sell out months in advance!

One of the last days with everyone home, we took a trip to the coast. We went to Poplar Beach in Half Moon Bay. We love this beach because our dog can go out on the beach with us. It is his favorite place in the world! He loves to dig in the sand (thankfully, he doesn't do this at home!). You can always tell where we have been because there are holes all over (which we fill in before we leave so that people don't trip in them!)

Our last daughter leaves tomorrow - very sad! But with the end of the holidays, and the beginning of the New Year, comes our biggest sale of the season - SALE-A-BRATION!!

Just to give you an appetizer, here is a card I made using the Hey, Chick stamp set from the Sale-a-bration brochure!

 

To create this card, I used Basic Gray card stock as my card base.I stamped this card stock with the Hardwood background stamp using basic gray ink. I created a banner using the triple banner punch for both the "chicken wire" paper from the Moroccan Designer series paper package, and the Very Vanilla Card stock. I stamped the chicken with Basic Gray ink, and colored and added shadowing using the new watercolor pencils.  I used Calypso Coral as an accent color for the "hey, chick" saying, the baker's twine, and the small punched Designer Paper from the Succulent Garden package. The "have a happy day" saying was stamped with basic gray ink onto the Succulent Garden Designer Paper, and then punched using the Classic label punch.
