As promised, here is the step-by-step tutorial for my Jar of Love stepper card.
I was going to to a video, but for this card, I thought it might be helpful to have written instructions with pictures instead.
Here is the card we are making:
The starting point for this card is to create your "steps". When you make other stepper cards,you can actually position your steps anywhere on the card that you would like. For this card, the steps will start one half inch from the left side of the folded card.
Position your card base vertically ( with the long (11 inch) edges on the left and right sides, and the 5.5 inch sides at the top and bottom). You will cut 2 slits 5 inches long. To make the first 5 inch slit, set your cutting blade at one half inch from the left side of the card stock, and at 1.25 inches along the vertical ruler as shown in the picture. Cut down to 6.25 inches on the vertical ruler.
Repeat this step with the card stock positioned to cut 3 inches from the left edge of the card. (Begin cutting at 1.25 inches on the vertical ruler, and end at 6.25 inches.)
After both of the slits are cut, turn the card horizontally so that the 5.5 inch edges are to the left and right. Line up the left edge of the card stock so that the slits start 1.25 inches in from that left side. Using the scoring blade, make score lines vertically between the two slits at 1.25, 2, 3, 4.25, and 6.25 inches from the left (5.5 inch) edge of the card stock.
After the final score, the card stock should look like this.
The "steps" will be 0.75, 1, 1.25, and 2 inches wide from left to right.
Next, fold your card in half. The score mark made at the 4.25 inch point should line up with the fold. Position your folded card so that the three smaller scored sections face you.
Now, begin to fold along the score lines to form the steps as shown in the pictures.
Once the steps are formed, cut two pieces of whisper white card stock. One should be 1.75 x 2.5 inches, and the second 2.5 x 4 inches.
These will be used for the backgrounds on the steps. Stamp your saying onto the top edge of the larger piece of whisper white card stock. (I chose the "celebrate your day" stamp from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set.) Once you have stamped your image, adhere the bottom back of this piece to the "front" of your last step on the card base. Once that is in place, adhere the bottom and back of the smaller piece to the front of the middle step.
Next, stamp all of your images and cut them out using the Jar of Love Bundle (which includes the Jar of Love Stamp set and the Everyday Jars Framelits). Using the framelits, cut your stamped images by running them through the Big Shot.
Stamp and cut about 5 flowers of each type and 8 stems. This insures that you will have plenty of flowers and foliage to fill your jar.
Stamp the jar in smoky slate, the water in soft sky to match the card base, and the large flowers in so saffron (Stamp off once onto scrap paper before stamping the larger background portion of the flower, and then stamp the smaller detail image without stamping off on the scrap paper. This gives you two tones with the same stamp pad). Use the same "stamping off" technique on the smaller flowers using calypso coral ink. Stamp several stems using wild wasabi. Stamp some of the stems at full strength, and some stamped off on scrap paper first. This gives some variation in the foliage. For the smallest flowers, stamp full strength in wisteria wonder ink.
Before you assemble all of your pieces, stamp stems onto your jar. Once the stems are stamped, adhere the jar to the front step of your card base.
Now you are ready to fill your jar with flowers! Adhere the flower heads to the stems using glue dots. It is important to be sure that the glue dots do not stick out beyond the stems, or they may stick the layers of the card together when the card is opened and closed. To avoid this,roll the glue dots before placing them between the flowers and the stems.
It is easiest to work from the front to the back when adding the flowers. Using rolled glue dots, adhere at least two flowers to the back side of the jar, lining up the stems with those that were stamped onto the jar. You may need to cut the bottoms off of the stems to make the stems line up with those on the jar.
Once the first layer of flowers is added, adhere the second layer of flowers to the whisper white card stock on the middle step, making sure to once again line up the stems with those on the jar. By placing these flowers onto the middle step, it gives your bouquet of flowers depth and dimension. You can add as many sprigs of flowers as you desire until your jar is filled to your satisfaction.
Once the jar is full of flowers, finish off the card by cutting a piece of card stock 2.25 x 4 inches to use as the background for the right side of the card. To finish off the card, either stamp a saying directly onto the white card stock, or make a matted banner using the triple banner punch and stamp the banner with a saying. (Mine was from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set.) If desired, add some bling using the rhinestone jewels, and add a flower sprig in front of the jar for added interest.

When your cards is closed, all of the layers should fit within the size of a normal envelope for mailing.
